Who can get a card
Borrowers may be both resident and non-residents. This condition is consistent with the founding mission of the library. However, all patrons must have an approved library card - new cards will be created upon request and proper identification.

How to Get Your Card

Library cards permitting full use of the library shall be issued as follows:

(1) Adult cards will be issued to any Michigan resident. A Michigan driver's license or Michigan ID shall be required.

(2) A minor's card shall be issued for children younger than 16 years of age. A parent or legal guardian's signature attesting to agreement and understanding of library policies is required on the card application.

(3) The first card issued will be at no charge.

(4) Lost cards must be replaced and a service fee of $0.50 will be levied.

(5) Patrons in good standing and who reside in the library's legal established service area may have a Michicard in addition to their Almont District Library card.

(6) Almont District Library will honor Michicard borrowing.

(7) A Michicard borrower shall agree to the library's loan policies.

(8) New library patrons shall be limited to three (3) items for the first circulation.

Teacher Cards

A separate borrower's card may be issued to teachers upon proof of employment. Items may be checked out for up to six (6) weeks for use in the classroom with no renewal option. Type and quantity of material(s) are left to the discretion of the Library Director or designated staff.
