Adult SRP
The Adult SRP includes 4 parts -
Reading Challenge, Fairy Garden Contest, Smartphone Photography Class, &
the Almont as Art Exhibit
Reading Challenge
- Add some color to your world one page at a time! This year, we have provided a list of reading challenges tied to our Color Our World theme. After you complete a challenge, come to the library and fill out a raffle ticket for a chance to win a prize! Complete multiple challenges to increase your odds of winning!
- Challenges:
- 1. Read a book with a color in the title
- 2. Read a book that has been made into a film
- 3. Read a fiction book about art
- 4. Read a biography or non-fiction book about an artist or art
- 5. Read a (fiction or nonfiction) book about music or a musician
- All entries should be completed by August 5. Prize drawing will be held on August 7 during our Summer Reading Party
Fairy Garden Contest
- Let your creativity be your guide in our Fairy Garden Contest! Pick up the contest supplies from the library on or after June 19th. Design a fairy garden in the container provided. We get you started with some materials, but it's up to you and your imagination to finish When you're done, return it to the library to compete against the other designers. The person whose piece receives the most votes will win a prize! See the schedule below for important dates:

Smartphone Photography Class - Ages 15+:
June 14th from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Master your smartphone camera with Wayne Pope, associate professor of photography at Lansing Community College! Learn how to capture better photos & edit, save & share them in this 90-minute class!
Topics include:
- Capturing sharp, well-exposed photos
- Improving your “Selfies”
- Using the “Grid" & “Level" for composition
- Using night mode for aurora borealis and moon
- Scanning QR codes
- Taking videos with slow-motion and time-lapse modes
Almont as Art Exhibit
Let's look at our town in a new way in a community art exhibit! We invite you to embark on a journey of creativity through photography! We are asking our community ages 15+ to show off their photographic talent by submitting up to 2 photos (framed or matted preferred) you have taken of Almont.
- Submit your photos with a short description by July 25 to be displayed at the library
- Please write your name and phone number on the back of the photos. Photos should be no bigger than 11x17
- Photos must be taken within the last year
- Entries will be displayed from July 28 to August 6
