SRP 2026 Performance Descriptions

Excluding the kickoff event, all performances require registration & take place at the Almont District Library (213 W. St. Clair). Registration opens on June 17th during the kickoff event. 

 

Cameron Zvara - June 17th at 1 p.m. at the Almont Lions Hall:

Join us for an afternoon of FUN with Comedy Magician & Entertainer- Cameron Zvara! Cameron's show is filled with mind blowing magic, comedy, juggling, music, and TONS of audience participation. You do not want to miss out!

Sloan Museum - June 24 at 11 a.m. & 1 p.m.: 

Recommended for ages 8-12
Archaeology:
 Step into the shoes of an archeologist as you participate in an excavation simulation, map out and explore the dig site, and look for clues to learn about the object’s past.

PaleoJoe - July 8 at 11 a.m.:

Dinosaur Day with PaleoJoe: Go on a wild ride through the ancient world. Learn how fossils are formed and what fossils are. Discover the techniques used in the investigation of how dinosaurs lived and died. Lots of fossil casts will be shown.

Detroit Zoo - July 15 at 11 a.m. (Recommended for K-2nd grade) & 1 p.m. (Recommended for 3rd-5th grade):

Piping Plover Protection: Piping plovers are vulnerable shorebirds facing significant threats to their survival from human activity and habitat loss. Learn how ecologists protect these birds through efforts like captive rearing, bird banding, and securing nesting sites.

Teen Program with Sloan Museum - July 18 at 10:30 a.m.:
Ages 13+
Bookbinding: Everyone has a story to tell. In this workshop, you’ll learn about the tools, terms, and techniques used in bookbinding. Apply your newfound skills to create your own mini storybook. Attendees are given tools to continue their project at home.

Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve - July 22 at 11 a.m. & 1 p.m.:

Dinosaurs: Explore fossil replicas of dinosaur parts, measure out the size of different dinosaurs, and check out the geologic timeline to learn why dinosaurs have never been found in Michigan! Dig in a tabletop dig pit to find small replica fossils and real shark teeth (Participants may each take a shark tooth home).

Science Alive - July 29 at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., &
2:30 p.m.:

Science Alive, the hands-on science education organization, has long established itself at the forefront of Michigan's educational resources. Through personalized, interactive presentations with live reptiles, amphibians, birds, and mammals, Science Alive brings the study of science to life.
