Circulation
Loan periods and information on overdue, lost, and damaged items:
Borrowing Limits
New Releases (over 500 pages), Juvenile (including new), Easy (including new), Adult Fiction, Adult Non-Fiction, and Audio Books - 3 week loan period.
Limitations: Audio Books - 6 per library card
New Releases (under 500 pages), High-Demand Books, and Magazines - 1 week loan period.
Limitations: New Release / High-Demand Books - 3 per library card & Magazines - 6 per library card.
DVDs (including new) - 1 week loan period. Limitations: videos / DVDs - 3 per library card.
Interlibrary Loan items are determined on a case-by-case basis in cooperation with loaning library or source institution.
Placing Holds
Patrons may request an item to be held for pick-up. This will reserve the item(s) if they are currently in circulation. Patrons can place holds through the library's online catalog or by calling the library and having one of the staff place the hold on the item. The patron will be notified when the item is available and it well be held at the circulation desk for five days only. After five days, the hold will be removed and the item will be marked available for circulation.
A patron may request an item through an Interlibrary Loan if the item isn't in our collection. The length of an Interlibrary Loan hold is determined by the library fulfilling the request.
Renewing Your Borrowed Item
3-week circulation items may be renewed if: (a) no holds are on the item (b) item is no more than 21 days due at the time of the request and (c) the item has not been renewed more than two times.
1-week circulation items may be renewed if: (a) no holds are on the item (b) item is no more than 7 days due at the time of the request and (c) the item has not been renewed more than one time.
Library Fines
Library Patrons will be charged overdue fines for materials that are kept beyond their due date. A fine of .05 per item, per day will be accrued on each book, audiobook, and magazine for everyday that it is overdue. A fine of $1.00 per item, per day will be accrued on each DVD for every day that it is overdue.
Fines shall not exceed replacement cost of item or a maximum of $25.00
Fines on Interlibrary Loan items are determined on a case-by-case basis.
Damaged and lost items
The price of replacement for items lost or damaged beyond repair will the the full replacement cost of the item, plus $5.00 per item for a cataloging and processing fee.
Lost Library Cards
There will be a $0.50 charge for replacement cards.
Suspension of privileges
Patrons may not borrow materials if privileges have been suspended. Privileges may be suspended for the following reasons:
- When the patron has more than six (6) items overdue or any one item twelve (12) weeks overdue.
- When the patron has $5.00 or more in outstanding fines or fees for materials that have been returned.
- When the patron owes for lost or damaged materials.
- When the patron has not met with conditions of any other library policy.
